Suggestions, Advice, and Secrets
11 hogs 1 night 1 trap
1. When using the Hog Trap new, allow trap to air off. Every square foot of the unit has been handled by humans when manufacturing. Leaving outside for a week and using a human scent remover will help in getting rid of human scent. Using rubber boots and gloves is advised.
2. If you can leave the trap in the areas you are going to use during the above time, secure the door open where it cannot be closed. Spread corn around the outside of the trap and put numerous piles inside the trap so hogs get used to going in and out. This is the time for the use of our food dispenser.
3. The ATV Towing Package is designed to be towed by an ATV only. This trap is not designed to be towed by any other means. This unit should be towed very slowly and very carefully. Be sure to watch out for stumps, limbs, cypress knees, and others that can get hung up in the floor of the trap while being towed.
4. Concerning the ATV Towing Package, it is advised that the wheels and the tongue be removed while in the outdoors, as it may not be there when you return.
5. One of the good problems that you can encounter is having too many hogs to get rid of. The trapped hog is, in my opinion much, better eating than one that has been all over the county by dogs. A single shot between the eyes puts one down in a hurry. Be sure to use solid .22 caliber bullets, not hollow points for this job. A good way to get rid of excess hogs is to go to your local gas station or grocery and ask if you can leave a paper for local people to sign up with phone numbers. Before you shoot any hog in the trap, go down the list until you get someone to take the hog immediately. Be sure to note on the list that they are responsible for cleaning the hog. Also one of the things you might run into is someone wanting you to bring it to them alive (NO-NO- this is against the laws of Georgia). Be sure to read all game laws concerning feral hogs in your state. If you have any questions concerning the rules and regulations in your state, please contact your State Department of Fish & Game.
